I did that on a cross country trip with my tank in the trunk and my filters plugged into an inverter for like 3 days and didn't loose any fish.
you should be fine unless your fish are delicate.

You should never be moved in an ice chest. you can go to your local pet shop and ask for products that would help you move your fish.

It depends on how long that you are going to be gone. If it is a long trip (a few days) then I would prepare the fish by not feeding then for a day or so to clean out their intestines so that they do not pollute the water as fast. They make battery operated air pumps that could power a corner filter or sponge filter for extended periods of time (make sure to take extra batteries and depending on the temp you would probably be best to just keep the lid closed (as much as possible.

It would be very stressful if not fatal for your fish. There are special bags you can get for travelling short distance but fish should never be transported in any tank-like structure. Water splashes about and throws the fish repeatedly into the sides at just 10 mph. You will need the special bags to prevent injury.

i don't think it will work, but an internal filter might ! is just that driving is too much movement and you might end up making the water splash everywhere from the filter...
